Writing Task 2: Responding to Survey Questions
Time Limit: 25 minutesRead the following information.
Dog Park or Bird Sanctuary
The city has a vacant piece of land in your neighbourhood and is asking residents to choose how it should be used. Two options are being considered. One option is to create a dog park where people can bring their dogs to play off-leash. The other option is to develop a bird sanctuary with trees, plants, and water features to attract local and migratory birds. The city council wants to know which option residents would prefer.
Choose the option that you prefer. Why do you prefer your choice? Explain the reasons for your choice. Write about 150-200 words.

Word count: 157
Option A: Dogs must be leashed at all times when they are in the park.
Response:
I believe dogs should be leashed at all times in the park.
First, many people visit the park to relax and enjoy nature. Some visitors may be scared of dogs, especially if the dogs are big or loud. Keeping dogs on a leash will help everyone feel safe and calm.
Second, there are animals living in the park, like birds and squirrels. If dogs run free, they may chase or hurt these animals. A leash can stop this and protect the wildlife.
Also, some dogs do not always listen to their owners. Even friendly dogs can act wild if they get too excited. A leash gives the owner more control.
I like dogs and want them to enjoy the park too, but safety is more important. With leashes, everyone—people, pets, and animals—can enjoy the park together.
